I've long thought of Leonard Cohen's If It Be Your Will, a prayer without the exortation of the word "may", along these lines. And I was only able to pray after I knew such prayer was possible.
Interestingly, Maimonides also hinted that prayer was 'impossible' or at least on par with the sacrifices as a form of worship that is 'subrational'. And yet we know he did it. I wonder if his prayer was similar to R' Nachman/Derrida.
